Installer aMSN avec urpmi
Urpmi est le gestionnaire de logiciel non graphique installé par défaut sous Mandriva. « Non graphique » signifie que pour l’utiliser, vous devez vous servir du terminal. J’en vois déjà qui me font la tronche, mais vous avez tort ! Ce tutoriel va être l’occasion pour vous de découvrir l’incroyable puissance de cet objet mal connu. Pour vous faire entrer doucement dans le bain, j’ai décidé de vous proposer d’installer le logiciel de messagerie instantanée que tout le monde connaît : aMSN. C’est parti !
Comme je vous l’ai dit plus tôt, pour utiliser urpmi, il faut commencer par démarrer un terminal. Sous Mandriva, il s’appelle « Konsole » et se trouve dans les « Outils » de votre « Menu ».
Ok, je vous accorde que ça ne paye pas de mine, mais bon, vous allez voir ce que vous allez voir ! Déjà, on retrouve notre nom d’utilisateur ainsi que le nom de notre système. Ensuite, notez le « $ » qui signifie que nous sommes connecté en tant que simple utilisateur.
Urpmi est un outil d’installation et de désinstallation ; il a donc une place très importante dans le système. De ce fait, n’importe qui n’a pas le droit de l’utiliser. Son usage est même strictement limité à l’administrateur (root), dont vous avez défini le mot de passe pendant l’installation. Pour devenir root, une simple commande suffit : su. Afin de vérifier que vous avez le droit de devenir root, on vous demande de saisir son mot de passe.
Catastrophe ! Le terminal ne veut rien entendre ! Le mot de passe ne s’affiche pas ! Héhéhé… je vous avais bien dit que vous aviez encore besoin de moi 
En réalité, c’est tout à fait normal. Par mesure de sécurité, lors de la saisie du mot de passe root dans un terminal, ce dernier ne renvoie rien. Pourtant, les touches pressées sont tout de même prises en compte. Vous pouvez donc saisir le mot de passe root et presser la touche [Entrée], même si rien ne semble s’afficher Regardez ! Votre « $ » s’est transformé en « # » ! Cela signifie que vous avez désormais tous les droits !
Urpmi est vraiment archi-simple d’utilisation, puisqu’il suffit de le faire suivre du nom de l’application à installer pour qu’il se charge de tout. Dans notre exemple, aMSN, la commande à taper est donc urpmi amsn. Observez la promptitude du résultat.
Une fois l’installation terminée, vous revenez au prompt initial que vous pouvez quitter soit en fermant la fenêtre contenant le terminal (c’est moche), soit en tapant la commande exit pour quitter le rang d’utilisateur root (votre « # » redeviendra un « $ »), puis de nouveau la commande exit pour quitter le terminal. Pour vérifier qu’aMSN a bien été installé, il vous suffit d’aller faire un tour dans le menu « Internet » de votre système.
J’espère que cette première approche du terminal aura mis à mal vos a priori sur celui-ci. Vous voyez que ce n’est pas si compliqué qu’il n’y paraît ? Toutefois, je dois vous dire la vérité, il peut arriver que ce soit un peu plus difficile que là, mais cela fera l’objet d’autres tutoriaux. A bientôt
